My name is Alex Mey. I am an avid photographer and videographer from Kamloops, Canada.
Growing up in British Columbia instilled a love for the outdoors and an appreciation for the natural beauty of my home province. As a child I enjoyed adventures with family- hikes through the BC mountains, canoe trips, and countless days of cross-country skiing. I absolutely love backpacking, mountaineering, snowboarding, and exploring the natural world.
One of my true passions is travelling. I have lived in Canada, Germany and Taiwan, and visited numerous other countries. Learning new languages and cultures and exploring cities inspires me and my photography. My future will include travel to as many unique and culturally rich locations as possible.
I document my experiences and share the memories with photos. Enjoy stepping into my world.
Rotary Youth Exchange
As a 2015/2016 exchange student, I had the extreme luck to spend a year living in Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei. I attended a Taiwanese high school, lived with Taiwanese host families and learned Mandarin Chinese. This experience gave me cultural understanding, personal growth, and a new home.
I founded an inclusive outdoor recreation club for the youth of Kamloops to share my passion for the outdoors. Some activities included hiking and snowshoeing.
Providing free photographic services to Kamloops non-profit societies is one that I have given back to my community of Kamloops. The city has provided so much to me, so I feel it is my duty to return efforts.
